Brief history of John Mayer John Clayton Mayer was born on October 16,1977. He is the second son to Richard and Margaret Mayer. He grew up in a town nearby Fairfield, Conneticut. His older brother is Carl Mayer and his younger brother is Ben Mayer. His fascination for the guitar came about when he watched Micheal J. Fox play in the sci-fi movie : Back To The Future. His parents then sent him for guitar lessons from a local guitar shop owner. He became very attached to it and after 2 years of practice, he started playing at bars and other venues, while still in high school. Being a musician has always been a passion of John Mayer ever since he learnt the guitar.
